Molluscum Contagiosum is a skin condition caused by a virus that forms characteristic shiny, dome-shaped papules (small, raised bumps) on the skin. It mainly affects children or adults with weakened immune systems. The type 1 strain is more common especially among children, while type 2 usually affects sexually active adults. The virus is spread in humans from direct skin-to-skin contact. The virus can also spread from the initial source of infection to other parts of the skin.
