There are some preventative measures that can be taken to reduce the risks of developing actinic keratois. Some of these steps include:

• Avoid long exposure to UV rays, including the sun and tanning salons.
• Always apply sunscreen with at least 15 SPF when spending time in the sun. Wear protective clothing such as a hat or long sleeved shirt.
