- Lipid (oil) solubility: alpha hydroxy acids (AHA) are water soluble only, while beta hydroxy acid (BHA) is lipid (oil) soluble.
- Due to beta hydroxy acid's (BHA) oil solubility, BHA is a more effective acne treatment for people with oily skin versus alpha hyrdoxy (AHA).
